No hypervisor found on ESXi host

Issue/Introduction

On boot up ESXi does not fully load but gives an error "No hypervisor found". 

Cause

• ESXi host files are missing or ESXi installation has been damaged or corrupted.
• ESXi host is having hardware issues such as SD Card/Hard Disks.
• Unexpected Power outage causing physical hardware issues.
• Underlying or intermittent Network disconnection issues causing the boot LUN to disconnect from the ESXi host.
• Boot order changed in the BIOS.
• Underlying storage issue can lead to missing or damaged hypervisor files.

Resolution

• Verify BIOS boot mode has not been changed from UEFI to BIOS.
• Verify no failed hardware, such as a failed hard drive.
• Involve Storage Team to check for any underlying Storage issues.
• Involve Hardware vendor to check for any underlying hardware issues.
• Reinstall ESXi.
