Intermittent path loss on Fibre Channel storage with frequent RSCNs

In the vSphere client, the following warning is reported frequently but intermittently against multiple devices:
"Path redundancy to storage device naa.################################ degraded"

Cause

RSCNs indicate a state change has occurred on the fabric. Frequent RSCNs correlated with connection failures indicate a likely issue on the FC fabric.
Resolution
Investigate the cause of the RSCNs on the fabric.
