HCX Migration retry function from legacy UI does not restore the migration state

Issue/Introduction

  • If a migration is canceled or in failed state, retry button in legacy HCX UI does not restart or recreate the migration. 
  • When a "RETRY" is performed on an HCX migration via the legacy UI, the old migration gets archived and a new migration gets started in same migration group in "Queued" state and does not progress.

Environment

VMware HCX 4.11.0

Cause

  • Performing the "RETRY" option in legacy UI rather than in the new HCX UI can cause the new migration to become stuck in queued state.  

Resolution

  • This issue is resolved starting in HCX 4.11.1. 

Workaround for 4.11.0 users

  • If retry of a migration is needed, use the NEW HCX UI to perform the retry on the Mobility Group level as shown below.

Additional Information

  • In case you have tried the "RETRY" in old UI and the VM went to queued state. You might have to FORCE CLEANUP the migration and re add the VM again for migration.
