9.0 VCF Installer Depot returns message, "Error connecting to depot dl.broadcom.com: Temporary failure in name resolution"

Issue/Introduction

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 

Cause

No nameservers or incorrect nameservers are configured on the VCF Installer. 

Resolution

1. SSH into the VCF Installer with the vcf user and then elevate to root with su. 
   
   
2. Set the correct DNS server
   
   nmctl set-dns dev eth0 dns DNS_Server_1,DNS_Server_2 
   
   Replace DNS_Server_1 and DNS_Server_2 with the appropriate IP addresses of your primary and secondary DNS servers.
   
3. Verify the correct information is present in the resolv.conf file. 
   
   cat /etc/resolv.conf
   
   
4. Log back into the VCF Installer UI and connect to the depot.
