Unable to uninstall the VMware vCenter Converter, getting an error as 'failed to stop service'

Issue/Introduction

Uninstall fails with below error,
'Failed to Stop Service'

 

This is the source machine where converter is installed locally.

Environment

VMware vCenter Converter 6.6

Cause

Services.msc shows only two services,
vmware-converter-server
vmware-converter-worker

Below service is missing,

vmware-converter-agent

Resolution

Run below command to re create the agent service,

"C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\vmware-converter-a.exe" -s "C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware vCenter Converter Standalone\converter-agent.xml" displayname= "VMware vCenter Standalone Agent"

confirm in services.msc the vmware-converter-agent is registered now.

Re run the uninstall of the converter.
