Removal of SRM-com.vmware.vcDr Protected Attributes

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

An administrator accidently removes the SRM-com.vmware.vcDr:::protected custom and global attributes, causing the SRM attribute value to go blank on the vCenter Sever

Environment

VMware Live Site Recovery 9.x

Cause

• The attribute com.vmware.vcDr:::protected is an automatically created tag used by VMware Site Recovery Manager and VMware Live Site Recovery to identify and mange virtual machines protected for disaster recovery 
• Do not manually remove or modify this attribute

Resolution

If this attribute is removed accidently for a VM:

1. 1. Restart the SRM Server service.
   2. Unprotect the affected VM(s).
   3. Protect the VM(s) to trigger the attribute recreation
