Issue/Introduction

  • NSX upgrade to 4.x is completed.
  • During upgrade the following issue is hit KB 405023 - NSX Manager or the Upgrade Coordinator service may have been restarted to workaround issue.
  • Post upgrade, Overlay Transport Zone is no-longer associated to the Transport Nodes.
  • This can be seen in User Interface where the Transport Nodes column for the Overlay Transport Node is "0"

System > Fabric > Transport Zones > Transport Zones > [Transport Zone Name] > [Transport Node]

  • All TEPs are removed from hosts, which in turn affects all traffic.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 9.0

Workaround:

  1. Edit the Transport Node Profile and re-add the missing overlay Transport Zone.
  2. If not currently attached, attach the updated Transport Node Profile to the cluster to push the Transport Zone config.
  3. Confirm that all tunnels return to an up state.
