Issue/Introduction

 Avamar Backup Application showing error  “HFS Check failed and Data Integrity Alert.”

 After an HFScheck fails, the following alert message is seen in the Administrator console:

Event Code: 22426
Category: SYSTEM
Severity: SYSTEM_FATAL
Summary: A data integrity issue has been detected

Please contact EMC Support immediately

Dell Avamar Backup Tool 

Cause

The error message typically indicates that the HFS (Hash File System) check, which verifies data integrity in Dell Avamar, has failed, raising concerns about backup reliability or potential corruption.

As per Dell documentation and the context of the error point to potential issues in Avamar-Data Domain integration . This can lead to failed HFS checks when files are offloaded and then inconsistently referenced during integrity scans.

Resolution

Engage Dell Avamar Support to run a full HFSCheck and analyze the failed entries.
