Issue/Introduction

vCLS VM shows high cpu utilization.

vmware.log of the vCLS VM is flooded with logs similar to the following:

YYYY-mm-ddTHH:MM:SS.zzzZ In(05) vmx <opID> VigorTransport_ServerSendResponse opID=<opID> seq=#########: Completed GuestStats request.
YYYY-mm-ddTHH:MM:SS.zzzZ In(05) vmx - VigorTransportProcessClientPayload: opID=<opID> seq=#########: Receiving GuestStats.SetNotificationTime request.

Cause

This issue is caused by a race condition in hostd, which results in an infinite loop in the SetVigorNotificationTime routine.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in ESXi 7.0 U3o or later.

As a workaround, restart the hostd service by running:

/etc/init.d/hostd restart
