Issue/Introduction

The "metering | policy name" metric is not being reported for certain objects in Aria Operations. This issue would have started after the migration of the Tenant App to a chargeback manager integrated with Aria Operations.

VMware Aria Operations 8.X

Cause

The root cause stems from a change in how pricing cards are managed following the upgrade to version 8.16.

Legacy Pricing Card Properties: Previously, pricing cards were assigned to OVDCs through "metering | policy name" property in the "tenant app." When a pricing card was assigned, these properties were populated. OVDCs still showing these populated properties were likely configured during that "tenant app" period.

Transition to Ops Policies: With the upgrade to 8.16, pricing cards are now managed by Ops policies. This means the older pricing card property "metering | policy name" are no longer actively used or updated. OVDCs created after the migration, or those that never had a pricing card assigned in the "tenant app" days, will not have these properties populated.

 

Resolution

Currently, there's no direct, out-of-the-box resolution within Aria Operations to obtain the "metering | policy name" as a standard metric or property for reporting.
