Issue/Introduction

• The ESXi host encounters a Purple Screen of Death (PSOD) during boot with the error: 'Failed to verify signatures for the following VIB(s): [NVD-VMware_ESXi_7.0.2_Driver ucs-tool-esxi]. All TAR disks were successfully validated.'
  
  
  
  
• After restarting the ESXi host, the system consistently hangs at 'Initializing InitVMKernel' and eventually leads to the previously mentioned Purple Screen of Death (PSOD).
  
  

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXI 7.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

The issue is encountered due to a mismatch in time synchronization between the operating system and the BIOS.

Resolution

1. Power-cycle the ESXi host using the virtual KVM console
2. Access the BIOS of the host, then navigate to Main > System Date and System Time.
3. Update the system with the correct date and time.
4. Press F10 to save the changes and restart the ESXi host.
