Not able to change default storage policy while deploying Virtual Machine using OVF template

Issue/Introduction

 Not able to use  "select virtual disk format" option to enable  thick provisioning , when vSAN Datastore is selected.
"select virtual disk format" option is grayed out.

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.x

VMware vSAN 8.x

Cause

Virtual disk format option is grayed since vSAN datastore is selected.

This is working as  designed, with vSAN to select thick provisioning option you have to apply a Storage Policy with thick provisioning option configured.

Resolution

Create a Storage Policy to support thick provisioning in the Advanced Policy Rules section --Object space reservation section and select the newly created storage policy from the drop down during OVF VM deployment.
