Unable to edit settings on a Virtual Machine Error Loading Data Service not found com.vmware.vcenter.crypto_manager.kms.providers

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to edit settings on a virtual machine in vCenter vCenter 8.0U3 the dialogue box opens with error:

Service not found: com.vmware.vcenter.crypto_manager.kms.providers
 Error: Service not found: com.vmware.vcenter.crypto_manager.kms.providers at

The issue also occurs attempting to deploy new virtual machines.

Environment

vCenter 8.0U3

Cause

Stale 5.x info still remaining on vCenter following upgrade from older versions of vCenter.

The issue can be identified by performing checks using either vSphere Diagnostic tool or lsdoctor:

Resolution

1. Take A snapshot of vCenter, if linked mode vCenter offline snapshots of all linked nodes
2. download the lsdoctor tool from KB mentioned above
3. Transfer lsdoctor tool to the vCenter
4. Run the check option first to verify:

    python lsdoctor.py -l

5. Run the stale fix option

   python lsdoctor.py -s

6. Restart all services 

   service-control --stop --all && service-control --start --all
