Error: unable to open data file logmon.dta but Logmon probe works fine

Issue/Introduction

We are seeing "unable to open data file logmon.dta" in the logs. The probe seems to be working fine, but they were wondering if that error was anything to worry about.

This does not seem the same scenario as in: Logmon probe won't start and throws error unable to open data file logmon.dta as the probe start and works correctly.

Environment

• DX UIM 23.4.*
• logmon 4.23 and earlier

Cause

The `logmon.dta` file is not included in the package, as the probe creates it at runtime. This file file is used to store the last run information for profiles. Under certain circumstances the file is not being opened and closed properly in the code.

 

Resolution

The next release of the logmon probe will contain a fix for this issue and it will be published in August 2025.
