Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  • Datastore shows "0" MB under Hosts>Datastore

  • Virtual machines under "vSphere UI>Hosts>VM" are inaccessible.

 

  • User may not be able to unmount the datastore with above symptoms as the datastore may still be in use by the ESXi with active IO.

 

 

 

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

This issue is caused due to storage hardware issue.

Storage devices send the valid sense data indicating an aborted command due to internal target failure.
