Issue/Introduction

  • When multiple site IDs are associated with a single vCenter, only one site ID can be used when registering the vCenter in the VCFOPS appliance. Therefore only the licences connected to the site ID used to register are available to assign.
  • The licenses connected to the OTHER site IDs cannot be assigned.

Environment

  • VCF/VVF 9.0
  • The environment consists of a single, standalone vCenter.
  • There are multiple Site IDs associated with that single, standalone vCenter.
  • Each Site ID has a subset of licenses associated with it.
  • In a 7.x/8.x environment all licenses associated with all Site IDs can be consumed on the vCenter.
  • In preparation for an upgrade to 9.0, a VCFOPs is deployed and is registered with the Business Service Console as per Registering VCF Operations with the VCF Business Services console
  • The registration requires that a valid Site ID exists but only one Site ID can be used to register VCFOPs.
  • Licenses associated with the Site ID used to register can be assigned to and consumed by the vCenter.
  • Other, associated Site IDs can be used to monitor their respective licenses but you cannot assign those licences to the standalone vCenter
  • See Managing Licenses in the VCF Business Services console

Resolution

This is a known limitation with the current license management architecture in 9.0 and will be addressed in a future release.
