Issue/Introduction

  • After upgrading or Deploying VMware Cloud Director 10.6.X power on customization fails to apply the correct IP address to Debian Based VM's that do not have Network Manager installed
  • The guest OS IP address does not match the IP address in the vCloud Director UI.
  • in the /var/log/vmware-imc/toolsDeployPkg.log on the guest OS you will see entries similar to below:

    2025-06-26T15:17:59 DEBUG: Exit Code: 5
    2025-06-26T15:17:59 DEBUG: Result:
2025-06-26T15:17:59 DEBUG: Failed to run 'systemctl restart NetworkManager.service', try again after 2s when the command exitCode is not '0' (numRetry=2, maxRetry=5)
