SDDC/NSX Manager Configuration Backup Failure

Issue/Introduction

The SDDC Manager configuration backup fails at 80% with the error: "Package and encrypt SDDC Manager backup failed."

Environment

SDDC Manager 5.2.x

Cause

Placing an upgrade bundle or any file in /opt/vmware/vcf will significantly increase the configuration size, which causes the default backup location at /var/log/vmware/vcf/sddc-support to run out of space and will eventually lead to a backup failure.

Resolution

• Check the /opt/vmware/vcf directory for any large files by running the command:

  du -sh *

• Delete the large files such as upgrade bundle from the directory.

  rm -rf <File-Name>

Note: Do not move any files to /opt/vmware/vcf, as this location is included in the SDDC Manager backup.
