Issue/Introduction

  • Unable to type into the virtual machine console of a newly deployed Linux VM (from an OVA template)
  • When using the virtual machine console using vSphere web client and VMRC does not allow to type
  • VMware tools are up-to-date 
  • You are able type into virtual machine web console when accessing from different machine.

Environment

vSphere 7.x

Cause

This issue would occur if there is any corrupted or misconfigured local Windows user profile can affect the proper functioning of desktop applications. This includes how VMRC or the browser-based Web Console capture and transmit keyboard input, leading to the observed inability to type within the VM console.

Resolution

The issue resolved by addressing the problem within their local Windows user profile.  Contact Microsoft support if assistance is needed.
