Unable to activate MON for a specific Network or VMs in HCX

Issue/Introduction

  • MON toggle switch missing from both the network level and the VM level.
  • NE HA group is in a degraded state
  • From Interconnect > Service Mesh > Appliances if we expand the active NE appliance and click on Network Extension Details, the list is empty. The same for the Undecided NE
  • From the browser's developers tools the response we get when we opening the Network extension page and it shows Undecided NE's as the pair in use.

Resolution

  • Recover NE HA pair to a healthy state: 
    • Plan a maintenance window, as there may be an outage if the appliances are redeployed.

    • Navigate to Interconnect > Service Mesh > HA Management. 

    • Select the Recover option at the bottom of the group card.

  • Restart HCX Manager app service and web service (Make sure there is no ongoing migrations before proceeding). How to restart HCX Manager services
