Issue/Introduction

We often get the '502 Proxy error 'in Netops Portal.

Cause

A "502: Proxy Error" typically means that the gateway or proxy server forwarding your request to the backend (like NetOps Portal or Data Aggregator) received an invalid or no response from that backend service.

Common Causes:

1. Gateway-to-Portal Communication Failure

  • The gateway (often Apache or NGINX) can't reach the NetOps Portal or receives a malformed response.

  • Could be due to service downtime, network latency, or firewall interference.

2. Backend Service Crash or Timeout

  • NetOps Portal, Data Aggregator, or Vertica DB might be overloaded or unresponsive.

  • Long-running queries or memory exhaustion can trigger timeouts.
