When restoring a database, finding an unusually large number of "Pre-data objects" and the restore takes a very long time.
This behavior happens after an in-place upgrade from RHEL7 to RHEL8.
The issue is the backup file, it generated many duplicate GRANT/REVOKE commands (related to PostGIS functions) which in turn increases the catalog size.
1. Drop the PostGIS extension on the database where the backup was taken
2. Reinstall PostGIS
3. Perform a new gpbackup.
