How to Order the z/OSMF Portable Software Instance?

Resolution

To order the IDMS/DB Version 19.0 S1912 z/OSMF PSWI (Portable Software Instance), follow these steps: 

  1. Log in to the Broadcom Support Portal
  2. Click Software and then select Mainframe Software



  3. Click My Downloads from the left 
  4. Type IDMS into the Search Box and then click on the IDMS that is returned from the search. 



  5. Select ProductsIDMS MVS and click on the link for 19.0




  6. Scroll down until you find:  IDMS.V19R0.ZOSMF.pax.Z and click GIMZIP       



  7. The GIMZIP text changes to Order is Placed.


    When the order processing completes successfully, the SERVER XML is generated to download the PSWI to the z/OSMF host.

  8. When the order is ready you will receive an email notification and the order details are available under Download History in the Download Manager.

  9. The SERVER XML contains the required information for the download server to receive the network package.
    Click on the Product Order and copy the SERVER XML and save this for use when you register the PSWI in z/OSMF.

    Sample SERVER XML follows:

  10. Register the Portable Software Instance in z/OSMF and register the PSWI using the Add From Download Server option.

    Login to z/OSMF and select Software Management 



  11. Select Portable Software Instance to define your PSWI to z/OSMF.

  12. Select Add from the Actions menu and select From Download Server (GIMZIP download)  



  13. Specify a Name.

    Copy the SERVER XML from the order details into the Server XML box.

    Select the desired SYSTEM.

    The USS Directory is populated with the NAME that was specified as the subdirectory at the end. 



  14. Use the default CLIENT XML or if needed, specify the CLIENT XML attributes that you use in other SMP/E jobs to download Broadcom Software Products or PTFs.

    Specify a Jobcard.

    Take note of the JCL.DATASET.NAME.



  15. The PSWI exists on your z/OS system and is defined to z/OSMF. The product software is ready for installation.
