VCF Administrator is unable to VMotion Most of the Time

Issue/Introduction

While attempting  vmotion, between NFS 4.1 shares, the following answer is received "Failed waiting for data. Error 195887107. Not found.  Storage vMotion failed to create the destination disk /vmfs/volumes/####/<vm name dir>/<vm_name>.vmdk (The file already exists). Failed to create one or more destination disks."

Environment

• Esxi 8.0U3
• Qnap NFS Array
• NFS 4.1

Cause

In reviewing the issue in the Vmware.log of the impacted the virutal machine, the following error is reported.

• In(05) worker-59571642 - DISKLIB-VMFS  : "/vmfs/volumes/####/<Dir>/<disk_name>.vmdk,-flat.vmdk" : failed to open (The file specified is not a virtual disk): Size of extent in descriptor file larger than real size. Type 3

The file 'already exists' error appears related to a mishandled operation on the array side.

Resolution

Customer's will need to update to the required patch level on the Qnap side.
