Relocation service crashing on Aria Automation 8.18

Issue/Introduction

• Relocation service is generating hprof files under /services-logs/prelude/relocation-service-app/file-logs/<DateTimeStamp>_heap_dump.hprof
• Aria Operations is generating alerts that the relocation service is crashing

Environment

Aria Automation 8.18

Cause

There is a memory leak in the SimpleObservation class.

Resolution

A fix for the issue is tentatively scheduled for the upcoming 8.18.1 Patch 4 release

Additional Information

There is currently no workaround available.

Until 8.18.1 patch patch is released recommendation is to configure alerting in Aria Operations. whenever an alert is generated for relocation service check the filesystem under /services-logs/prelude/relocation-service-app/file-logs/ and manually remove any hprof files for the relocation service to prevent these from consuming disk space.
