Issue/Introduction

When performing a compliance check, ESXi hosts managed by a Single Image cluster encounter the following error.

Error: Host not compatible with the image

Environment

VMware vSphere 7.x

VMware vSphere 8.x

Cause

The issue occurs when the cluster image version (including the base image, vendor add-on, and additional components) differs from the components installed on the host. For example, a discrepancy in the Vendor Add-on version can result in the host being non-compliant with the cluster image, leading to compliance failure.

Resolution

Verify that the cluster image, including the image, vendor add-on, and additional components, is consistent with the components installed on the host.

Steps:

- Select Cluster > Updates > Image

- Review "ESXi Version" , "Vendor Addon" , "Firmware and Drivers Addon" and "Components " and ensure that these are are same on both the host level and the cluster level.
