Host group upgrade status is FAILED for group xxxx:domain-xx xxxx :

[Upgrade failed: Solution apply failed on host: ‘xxxx’.
The ‘TSDM Daemon for VMware ESX’ component version ‘19.17.0.3-1OEM.703.0.0.18644231’ was deleted from vSphere Lifecycle image.

  • There is TSDM VIB installed on the ESXi host checking with command:

esxcli software vib list | grep -i tsdm

  • There is no TSDM VIB in VLCM

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.x
VMware NSX 4.x

Cause

The TSDM VIB is not included in vSphere Lifecycle Manager image depot thus is removed after host remediation.
DELL PowerProtect Data Manager needs to leverage TSDM VIB to backup virtual machines.

Resolution

The issue can be fixed in either of these ways:

1. DELL support can be contacted to do following,
         a. Remove TSDM VIB from DELL PowerProtect Data Manager.
         b. Continue upgrading from SDDC.
         c. Reinstall TSDM VIB from DELL PowerProtect Data Manager.

2. Add the TSDM VIB into image depot of vSphere Lifecycle Manager to avoid TSDM VIB being removed after host remediation. Steps to follow: Import Updates to the vSphere Lifecycle Manager Depot
