NSX V2T migration fails at the Import Configuration stage with the error "Unsupported topology: more than 1 node at level 2 in 2 level topology" for Fixed Topology

Issue/Introduction

  • During the import configuration stage of V2T migration, when Fixed Topology is selected, step 4 Translate imported configuration shows "Failed" with the error 
   "Config translation failed [Reason: [TOPOLOGY] Can not proceed with migraiton: Unsupported topology: more than 1 node at level 2 in 2 level topology.]
  • If User Defined Topology is selected, the migration attempt does not fail at this step. 
  • You may see similar entries in the following log files on the NSX-T Manager migration coordinator node.

Cause

This is due to the current NSX-V topology not matching the criteria required for Fixed Topology migration.

Resolution

This is a condition that may occur in a VMware NSX environment.

 

You must ensure that the NSX-V applied topology is adhering to one of the topologies listed in the following the document. 
Please verify that all required interfaces are connected.
