Issue/Introduction

The PURGECOMPLETEDJOBS step in the housekeeping utility application doesn't seem to be cleaning up the completed jobs. While the PURGECOMPLETEDJOBS job runs successfully, they're not getting removed, which is causing the number of active generations limit to be reached resulting in dSeries shutting down.

Resolution

Known issue is resolved by applying CUM3 patch.

Even though the housekeeping/purgecompletedjobs job reports successful purging in its spool file, the application generations are not fully clearing from the Monitor view in the Desktop Client.

This can sometimes happen if records get stuck due to some thread issue with the data in the database.

For an immediate workaround, there are two options:

  • Restart the DE Server.
  • If you are running a High Availability (HA) configuration (with a primary and standby), you can initiate a failover or changerole.

For a permanent solution that addresses this underlying issue, we strongly recommend upgrading to the latest release, DE 12.4, and applying the 12.4 CUM3 patch.

You'll need to apply CUM3 to all components that you are using

  • 99112309: ESP dSeries Workload Automation Server 12.4 CUM #3
  • 99112315: ESP dSeries Workload Automation CLI r12.4 CUM #3 (if applicable)
  • 99112311: ESP dSeries Workload Automation WebClient r12.4 CUM #3 (if applicable)
  • 99112310: ESP dSeries Workload Automation Desktop Client r12.4 CUM #3
Note: The Desktop Client CUM3 does need to be applied to ALL installations.

Each of the above solutions comes with their own set of instructions for applying. Carefully review them before applying.
