Management Center - VA

Issue/Introduction

Management Center administrator wants to integrate with Active directory LDAP for management purposes.

The AD LDAP instance requires a valid user to browse the directory, yet the only username and password LDAP options are in section "LDAP" as opposed to "Active Directory LDAP"

Using the following Configure LDAP in Management Center KB, we attempted the configuration with just LDAP.

However when entering the username and password and then trying to activate the server we get following error message reported:

Failed to save "LDAP": Property "Login user" had invalid value "undefined"

Environment

Active Directory.

Management Center 4.1.1.1.

LDAP communication.

Cause

Invalid notation for the LDAP search within the Management Center LDAP configuration.

Resolution

Make sure that the login user is defined with the FQDN.

Additional Information

A lot of additional information around LDAP and LDAP configuration errors can be found in the logs. To enable LDAP specific logs, go to

  • Administration -> Settings -> logs and set Security log level to DEBUG
  • Replicate the LDAP issue
  • Download the security.log from Administration -> Logs
