Issue/Introduction

Use this guide to configure separate database instances for specific Identity Manager components to improve system scalability and performance. This procedure applies to auditing, reporting (snapshots), workflow, and task persistence databases.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.x

Resolution

1. Prepare the Database Environment: Ensure the target database instances are created and accessible.
2. Configure Workflow Database:
   • Add the path to sqljdbc.jar to the DB_CLASSPATH in the CreateDatabase.bat (Windows) or .sh (UNIX) script.
   • Execute the CreateDatabase script located in the tools/Workpoint/install directory.
   • Select the database type and enter the required JDBC parameters (Class, URL, User ID, and Password).
   • Set the Database ID to WPDS.
   • Initialize and verify that the process completes with 0 errors.
3. Configure Other Components: For Auditing, Task Persistence, Object Store, Snapshots, and Archive, update the connection configuration via the Identity Manager management tools located in tools/db (or imrexport/tools/db for Snapshots).
4. Restart Services: Restart the application server to apply the changes.
