Issue/Introduction

How to find out if an AutoSys Client program is present on an AutoSys Agent or not.

AutoSys has out of the box way to inventory AutoSys Agents, but not Clients.

Resolution

Below are some of the options that one could use:

  1. Autotrack audit reports would show any AutoSys commands being run from any Client node, and by what user (Autotrack detailed level is not enabled by default, check the documentation in the same link

  2. AutoSys Application Server logs, $AUTOUSER/out/as_server.*    files have entries like below, for any AutoSys command that was run:

    [06/30/2025 08:40:30]      CAUAJM_I_30030 Client [AutoSys AutoRep:609484][17][XXXXXXXXXX:49722:##.##.##.##] [-M ALL] session established.

You would have to parse these lines to obtain the command name, the hostname / IP (XXXXXXXX and ##.##.##.##  above)  to get an audit of what was attempted from what client node

  3. Last option would be to try to run a Command job on all of those agents. The command would be something like  "sendevent -h"     (or whatever command you want to try) to display help of that command.   If that job's output shows up with some of the output like sendevent's help, then you know the command is present. If the job finishes with a command not found error, then it doesn't exist.
