Invalid "***** SYNTAX ERROR *****" messages in ADSORPTS

Issue/Introduction

An ADSORPTS report is displaying the message text:

*****  SYNTAX ERROR  *****

on lines of code that are correct.

Environment

Release: All supported releases.

Cause

The ADSORPTS job is picking up an invalid or obsolete copy of the ADSOOPTI load module. 

Resolution

ADSOOPTI is a load module which contains the ADS options in use by the CV. Whenever the ADSO sysgen statement is changed, ADSOOPTI must be re-generated using ADSOBSYS.

One of the common symptoms of not using an up-to-date ADSOOPTI is invalid SYNTAX ERRORs in ADSORPTS because the wrong comment character is being used.
