Cannot Start UNAB

Issue/Introduction

Issue:

New installation of UNAB does not start.

Gives error: UNAB Agent daemon failed to start, see logfile /tmp/uxauthd.run_....

 

 

 

 

Environment

PIM: 12.8 SP1

OS: HP UX 11.23

Cause

Could not get function dispatch table for CAPKI library

CA ETPKI library failed to initialize in FIPS OFF mode.

 

capki_install.log shows: 
This installer application is already running in another process. 
Lock file: /tmp/.CA_CAPKI_Installer.lock

 

PIM or another product failed to install and left the file there so the CA UNAB install that calls CAPKI failed.

Resolution

Unab was not able to get function dispatch table for CAPKI library and CA ETPKI library failed to initialize in FIPS OFF mode.  

Needs to remove the lock file /tmp/.CA_CAPKI_Installer.lock and reinstall UNAB.

 

Once the left over lock files are removed, unab would be able to get function dispatch table for CAPKI library and would be able to start.

It’s good to do a new installation of unab because CAPKI is not a standalone. It’s part of the whole package.
