Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

  •  The administrator observed frequent tasks on the vCenter from com.vmware.vr.
  •  A general system error occurred: Health check for 'Host_Name' failed. 

Environment

vSphere Live Recovery 8.8 or above.

Resolution

1) Verify if the HBR agent is present on all ESXi hosts at both the source and target sites using the command below:

  • chkconfig --list | grep -i hbr     

2) Follow the workaround below to stop the VIB installation

Take snapshot of vSphere Replication appliance at source and target.

  • SSH into vsphere replication as admin at source and target.
  • root@VRMS [ / ]# cd /opt/vmware/hms/conf/
  • root@VRMS [ /opt/vmware/hms/conf ]#
  • Edit hms-configuration.xml using vi and update the following entry from true to false.
  • <!-- Whether to install hbragent vib automatically when reconnecting to the hosts -->
  • <hms-auto-install-hbragent-vib>true</hms-auto-install-hbragent-vib>
  • Restart hms using 'systemctl restart hms' 

Note:  If VIB is missing, manually install the VIB if new hosts are added to the inventory. Refer to the document for manual VIB installation An error occurred during host configuration - Host fails to download vmware-hbr-agent VIB (Temporary failure in name resolution)
