Issue/Introduction

Newly created VS may fail to come up with the error message "Host selection for Service Engine creation in progress. Please wait."

Disable/Enable of the VS will not resolve

Environment

The issue can be seen in 22.1.x release.

Write-Access clouds are susceptible to this.

Cause

For a new VS, Avi tries to place it on a ServiceEngine and the the issue occurs if cloud connector did not create the SE before the timeout interval expected by Resource Manager (~15 minutes).

Even if the SE was created successfully later, the VS would still be stuck in the same state. Other new VS can get placed successfully on that SE.

Resolution

The issue is fixed in 30.2.3.

For 22.1.7 release, the solution is to restart the resource manager service using the steps below:

  • ssh to leader node (identify from UI, Administration > Controller > Nodes)
  • Enter root user with "sudo -i"
  • Run the command "systemctl restart res-mgr.service"
  • disable/enable the VS in UI.
