Authentication errors in some workflow after adding new OS image (RHEL9)

Issue/Introduction

vRO workflows can contain scriptable tasks that use VMWare Tools to execute scripts on target  VMs. In order for this process to work the workflow needs to have a valid root level user passed to the scriptable task. The error message below is a possible error message that can be seen if this is not the case.

 Error in (Workflow:Create temporary directory in guest / Scriptable task (item1)#9) Failed to authenticate with the guest operating system using the supplied credentials.

All supported vRO versions

Resolution

• Ensure that the credentials passed to the VMWare tools scriptable tasks are correct
• Ensure that the vmtoolsd has the correct username and password
