Error: "Unable to extract requested data" when migrating container volumes in CNS from one datastore to another datastore.

Issue/Introduction

• Error: "Unable to extract requested data" when migrating container volumes in CNS from one datastore to another datastore.
• Observed In vCenter version prior to 8.0U3. 

Environment

• vCenter Server Appliance 8.0
• vCenter Server Appliance 8.U1
• vCenter Server Appliance 8.02
• vCenter Server Appliance 7.x

Cause

This is due to  non-availability of the volume storage policy, in later versions of vCenter i.e. onwards 8.0u3 and above the logic has been changed. Thus allowing the migrate to still happen, even if there is no storage policy.

Resolution

To update the vCenter to latest version of 8.0U3 or above and then migrate the container volume.
