Host based replication server is missing under available replications servers

Issue/Introduction

• When configuring a replication, under the replication server selection, ESXi based servers are missing
• Enhanced replication is enabled
• The embedded replication server is available and connected
• Manual review within the "Site Recovery UI > Site > Replication Servers" also shows the server is missing

Environment

Cause

• ESXi hbrsrv service is not running when checked via the UI
  
  

• You can also check via SSH to the host utilizing the following command:
  
  /etc/init.d/hbrsrv status


Resolution

Configure hbrsrv service with "Start & Stop with Host"

1. Verify that hbrsrv is running on ESXi host.
2. Go to the vCenter vSphere Client, locate the host, navigate to the 'Configure' tab, then go to 'Services'.
3. Look for the service hbrsrv in the list and check if its status is 'Started'.
4. If it is in stopped state, please start the service.
5. Ensure the service is set to "Start & Stop with Host"
