Issue/Introduction

  • While enabling policy, you couldn't find a recent "vSphere Solution's Default Policy"
  • There are multiple "vSphere Solution's Default Policy" in the Operations > Configurations > Policy Definition page, but they have old dates in the name
  • One of the "vSphere Solution's Default Policy" is marked as D in the priority column, but it is very old.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations 8.x

Cause

When a vCenter adapter is created (or re-created after deletion), a new vSphere Solution's Default Policy is created with the date of the adapter creation. This can lead to multiple vSphere Solution's Default Policies.

Resolution

The name of the policy merely indicates the date the policy was created. The settings within the policy will update with each upgrade of the product.

You can clone the policy for modification, change the name of the policy if desired, or delete unused or unassigned (the priority field is blank) copies of the policy in the Policies Library
