Issue/Introduction

Getting alarms for devices that are no longer in inventory, and have been blacklisted.

Environment

  • 20.4, 23.4
  • nas, Operator Console (Alarm Console)

Resolution

Blacklisting a device will stop discovery and QOS population for a device, but it will not stop alarm population. With UIM CU2 a deep clean option has been added which will remove the robot from the device during the delete process (for robots version 23.4.2 and above).

If the robots are older, and deep clean is not option, the following should be performed to mitigate the possibility of new alarms:

  1. remove the device from remote monitoring probes that it me belong to such as net_connect, icmp, rsp
  2. remove the robot from the device if deep clean is not selected
  3. deactivate and or remove any monitoring probe from the device

Option 1 would be used in concert with 2 or 3 to eliminate any new alarms. The preferred option ultimately would be to perform 1 and 2 to insure no new alarms.
