After update of SIM to 8.8, Full Repair for 8.7.3 Fails

Issue/Introduction

You may have noticed the following behavior:

  • SMP Console won't open. If it does open, it's corrupted.
  • From NS logs we see the following:

Failed to load event data class: 39e4fe9a-9076-405e-a562-151a6578371f, user=DomainName\username, events will be skipped.

Failed to construct DatabaseContext object. Connection to database failed.
   [DatabaseNotReadyException @ Altiris.NS.dll]

SQL Catalog is not set in CoreSettings.Config

  • The agent does not register to the SMP Server (aka Notification Server) or Task Servers

Environment

ITMS 8.7.3 with point fixes. 

Resolution

This issue has been fixed with our ITMS 8.8.1 Release. See ITMS 8.8.1 Release Notes

  1. When SIM starts up, it will ask you to update. Please do this update.
  2. Backup/Snapshot the Notification Server and the SYMANTEC_CMDB
  3. Upgrade from 8.7.3 (without full repair) to a newer version, like ITMS 8.8 GA. Please see IT Management Suite 8.8 Release Notes
