During a stemcell upgrade, the Apply Changes failed while Installing the Tanzu Observability by Wavefront Nozzle tile

Issue/Introduction

Apply Changes failed during the deployment of the Tanzu Observability by Wavefront Nozzle tile.

The bosh task failed with this error:

Error: 'wavefront_proxy/9999 (0)' is not running after update. Review logs for failed jobs: wavefront_proxy

In the logs of the wavefront_proxy job running in the wavefront_proxy VM, this error was logged:

2025-06-26 01:23:45,116 ERROR [proxy:checkinError] HTTP 404: Misconfiguration detected, please verify that your server setting is correct. Current setting: http://wavefront.example.com/api

VMware Aria Operations for Applications (formerly known as Tanzu Observability by Wavefront)

Cause

The server, which was set as the Wavefront Instance URL, was not a valid Wavefront server and its API endpoints are not responding with the valid responses that are expected by the wavefront proxy process.  If this was working previously, it could be caused by a change in the server.

Resolution

1. Identify the URL of a valid Wavefront Instance in the environment.  If needed, check accordingly with the team that manages the Wavefront instances. 
2. Update the Wavefront Instance URL with the value identified in step 1.  This setting is in the Wavefront Proxy Config tab of the tile settings. 
3. Apply Changes.
