Issue/Introduction

Healthwatch pas-exporter-counter vm is running java process to process the metrics it receives. In large environments the vm may utilise a lot of the resources to process the workload.

Environment

Healthwatch pas-exporter-vm.

Cause

java process used by the vm utilises all of the resources to process the workload. When pas-exporter-couner vm resources are fully utilised vm goes into unresponsive agent state and gets recreated by Bosh director.

Resolution

By default the vm is created with 1Gb memory and 1Gb cpu. Recommendation is to scale the vm type to have more resources, in particular memory if a consistent increase is observed and when vm gets recreated frequently by Bosh.
