Not able to add a NFS datastore to an ESXI hosts

Issue/Introduction

• Although the NFS server and ESXi hosts were confirmed to be on the same subnet, the mounting process was being blocked
• NFS server is successfully pingable from ESXi hosts and NFS Server
• NFS ports are open

Environment

• VMWare vSphere ESXi

Cause

The underlying cause of the issue was identified as an incorrect folder path syntax. Specifically, a crucial forward slash was missing at the beginning of the path when attempting to mount the NFS datastore.

 

Resolution

Using correct the folder path syntax by including a forward slash at the beginning of the path when configuring the NFS datastore mount.
