Issue/Introduction

This article outlines the procedure for updating and validating vCenter service account credentials in VMware Aria Automation appliance during the event of service account password change.

Resolution

Follow these steps to ensure all references to the vCenter service account are updated with the new credentials.

Aria Automation Assembler

1. Update Cloud Account Credentials

  • Navigate to Infrastructure > Connections > Cloud Accounts.
  • Select the target vCenter cloud account that utilizes the service account.
  • Enter the new password for the service account and click Validate.
  • Once validation is successful, click Save to commit the changes.

2. Update Secrets (If Applicable)

  • Navigate to Infrastructure > Administration > Secrets.
  • Review the list of secrets to identify any that store the credentials for the vCenter service account.
  • Select the relevant secret, update its value with the new password, and save the changes.

Aria Automation Orchestrator

1. Update vCenter Plug-in Endpoints

  • In the Orchestrator client, navigate to Library > Workflows.
  • Search for and run the workflow: Update a vCenter Server instance. This is located under Workflows > Library > vCenter > Configuration.
  • When prompted, select the vCenter instance that is configured with the service account.
  • In the section "Update the log-in properties" provide the new password.
  • Complete the workflow to save the new connection details for the vCenter plug-in.

2. Review Configuration Element

  • Navigate to Assets > Configurations in the Orchestrator client.
  • Thoroughly review Configuration Elements and Variables to check for any items that may be storing the username or password for the service account. Update any found instances.
