Issue/Introduction

The number of VMs displayed on the Cost Drivers Summary does not match the the total number of VMs reported on the vSphere World object.

  • Cost Driver Summary: Operations >> Configurations >> Cost Drivers
  • vSphere World object metric: Summary|Total Number of VMs

Environment

Aria Operations 8.18.x

Resolution

If the Usage metrics (Summary >> Metering >> Details) are not available on the VMs at the time of Cost Calculation, this will lead to a mismatch between the number of VMs displayed on the Cost Driver Summary and the vSphere World object metric "Summary|Total Number of VMs"

The Cost Calculation runs at 9PM local time each day. If VMs have been created or deleted after that time they will not be considered until the next Cost Calculation.

Additional Information

Note: For example, if a server contains both Windows 2012 and Windows 2016, Cost Drivers will consider the all OS's on that host as Windows 2016. This is done to ensure double costing is not performed.
