When performing a failback task on the SRM appliance, the recovery plan state shows 'Incomplete Recovery'

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• While performing failback, the task completes, and the state of the recovery plan shows 'incomplete recovery'.

 

• The protection group shows partially recovered:

 

Environment

Site Recovery Manager 8.x

Site Recovery Manager 9.x

Cause

Whenever performing a failover or a failback operation, the state of the VM should be OK. 

The state of the VM in this state was showing 'Not configured' and also the VM was showing a ID instead of the VM name as shown below:

This can be the case when protection for the VM has manually removed. The particular VM will show vm-#### and the status will show 'not configured'.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, remove this VM from the protection group and added it to a new protection group after which the state of the VM was showing normal and also, the VM was showing the correct name.

Run the recovery and it completes without any issues successfully.
