Issue/Introduction

Can the Jaspersoft Server software be installed on Linux for integration with Service Desk?

Environment

Service Desk Manager v17.x
Jaspersoft Server 9.0.0

Resolution

According to documentation Install JasperReports Server 9.0.0,

The installation of JasperReports 9.0.0 is supported on Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases. The installation is available in English (United States) and is supported only on Windows Operating System.

In the "JasperReports Server" iso, there is both the Windows installer "js-jrs_9.0.0_win_x86_64.exe" and the file that allows for war file installation "js-jrs_9.0.0_bin.zip".

While the war file installation does allow for Jaspersoft to be installed on non-Windows platforms and it does work this way, having Jaspersoft Server on a non-Windows platform is not supported with Service Management because of the requirements for the integration.

So, it works, but it can't integrate with Service Management (Service Desk/Service Catalog) unless it's on a Windows platform.
