Issue/Introduction

When updating Messaging Gateway from version 10.9.0 to 10.9.1 on virtual infrastructure, the update fails to complete and generates the following error on the virtual console:

Fatal glibc error: CPU does not support x86-64-v2

Environment

  • VMWare virtual infrastruture

Cause

The EVC CPU Mode for the VMWare cluster is not set to a cpu generation high enough to support the x86-64-v2 instruction set

Resolution

If using EVC (Enhanced vMotion Compatibility) on the vSphere cluster that hosts the SMG virtual machines, ensure that the EVC CPU mode is set to "Nehalem" or higher for the cluster.
